Rosemont, IL – Brian S. Parsley, MD of Houston, Texas took office as president of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) at their Board meeting in New Orleans, March 12, 2014.
Dr. Parsley earned his MD from the University of Texas in Houston. He is certified by the State Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. In assuming his new office, Dr. Parsley stated, “AAHKS is the premier organization for hip and knee surgeons, and I look forward to advancing our work in education, advocacy and research. The coming year will see AAHKS grow membership both in North America and internationally.”
Dr. Parsley is currently a physician with Houston Orthopedic & Spine Physicians with hospital privileges at Houston Orthopedic & Spine Hospital, Houston Methodist Hospital, and Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. He is a member of the Engh Society, Texas Orthopaedic Association, Houston Orthopaedic Society and the American Medical Association, among many others.
His charitable endeavors are global in nature from the Faith in Practice Medical Missions Organization, Museum of Health and Medical Science to the Arthritis HOSH/South Texas Chapter and many others. With Faith in Practice, he has performed many surgeries free of charge in Antigua, Guatemala for over eighteen years. His reward is seen on the faces of his patients as they walk in to thank him on subsequent trips.
Dr. Parsley is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Baylor College of Medicine/Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is Director of the Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Training Program for Baylor College of Medicine.
Aside from governing AAHKS, perhaps the greatest challenge for Brian Parsley in the coming year will be the weddings of all four of his daughters in the same year.
