Study Finds Innovative Devices Did Not Provide Better PT Outcomes

A large multi-center randomized clinical trial has found newer and more expensive devices, increasingly seen in outpatient physical therapy centers, did not enhance outcomes for patients undergoing outpatient rehabilitation. Published this month in the Journal of Arthroplasty, the study was conducted over several years at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital. It compared patient outcomes among primary unilateral TKA patients participating in standard-of-care intervention and 3 more recently developed physical therapy interventions.
