At its annual House of Delegates meeting this week, the American Medical Association (AMA) installed Andrew W. Gurman, MD as president. Dr. Gurman is a hand surgeon from Hollidaysburg, Pa. “As the first hand surgeon and only the second orthopaedic surgeon to serve as AMA president, Dr. Gurman believes strongly that nurturing the profession is crucial for America’s physicians and the generation who will one day take their place,” said the AMA. In his inaugural address, Dr. Gurman encouraged all physicians to get involved with advocacy for the benefit of your patients and colleagues alike. “Let’s reach out to those around us, let’s build these relationships. Let’s encourage others to join us, to lend their voices, as we work together to create a future that supports thriving physicians, expands quality care and strengthens the health of our nation.” Full story.
