AAHKS Signs on to Podiatric Scope of Training Letter

AAHKS signed on to a letter with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons expressing our concerns to Representatives Renee Ellmers and Diana DeGette regarding a provision in H.R. 1221, the Helping Ensure Life- and Limb-Saving Access to Podiatric Physicians (HELLPP) Act, which would group podiatrists under the heading “physicians” as part of the Medicaid program. The letter supports the inclusion of Podiatrists as part of Medicare, but not as physicians, because this would go beyond their scope of training and practice. Read the letter.
