Surgeon General Appeals to Physicians on Opioid Epidemic

In a letter to 2.3 million physicians and other health professionals, US Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy, MD, MBA, asks for a commitment to take a pledge “to turn the tide on the opioid crisis.” Dr. Murthy also advises colleagues to educate themselves on treating pain safely and effectively using the mobile-friendly pocket guide that incorporates the CDC Opioid Prescribing Guidelines.
