November 29, 2016
For Immediate Release
Rosemont, Ill. – The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) applauds the nomination of Congressman Tom Price, MD to be the next Secretary of Health & Human Services.
“Through our many areas of mutual interest, AAHKS has long known Congressman Price as a partner in improving the Medicare program,” said William A. Jiranek, MD, AAHKS President. “And we have first-hand knowledge of his commitment to ensuring that every American has access to affordable, quality health care.
“Congressman Price’s nearly 20 years practicing as an orthopaedic surgeon has given him unique insight into the real world impact of federal health programs on patients, providers and the entire health care system. We believe the President’s Cabinet and the Department of Health & Human Services will be strengthened by the leadership of someone who has actually treated patients and understands the challenges faced by health care providers in meeting their needs.
“AAHKS is happy to assist the Senate in the confirmation process and we look forward to working with Secretary Price.”
