Earlier this month the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the CY 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) proposed rule. The proposal significantly impacts hip and knee surgeons by devaluing the primary procedures you perform by 5.4% work RVUs.
CMS needs to hear from you. Please click here to submit prepared comments to CMS regarding the proposed cut. AAHKS is generating a more detailed response and we are in discussion with members of Congress and the Administration. But without your help, our efforts may not prevent a reduction in your Medicare reimbursement next year, so take a moment to send your response.
Any cut will hit arthroplasty practices especially hard while trying to recover after being shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. CMS and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services have been stretching their legal authority to ease regulatory burdens and deliver billions of dollars in health provider relief with one hand and now proposing to cut physician payments with the other. The volume of comments that CMS receives affects their decisions, so please be sure to comment and share this link with your fellow surgeons.
