In a ruling on King v. Burwell this week, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that the federal tax subsidies provided under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) are being provided lawfully. The New York Times reported that, “Without the subsidies, many people would be unable to afford insurance, and healthier consumers would go without coverage, leaving insurers with a sicker, more expensive pool of customers.” Justices ruled 6-3 in favor of the law.
