A record number of attendees participated in the 2017 AAHKS Annual Meeting in Dallas last week. The meeting kicked off with industry symposia covering hot topics in hip and knee arthroplasty. Three special courses reached out to residents, team members and hospital professionals. The General Session got underway with an address by U.S. Senator John Barrasso, MD who spoke of what matters most to patients. The scientific presentations from the podium was packed with original research that attendees could take home and put into practice.

AAHKS Business Meeting Elections

Richard Iorio, MD Elected Third Vice President
On Sunday, November 5, 2017, AAHKS members elected Richard Iorio, MD as the next Third Vice President of AAHKS at the AAHKS. Dr. Iorio is Chair of the AAHKS Health Policy Council, the Advocacy Committee, and co-chairs the Advanced Alternative Payment Model Task Force. Dr. Iorio is the Dr. William and Susan Jaffe Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief, Division of Adult Reconstructive Surgery at NYU Langone’s Hospital for Joint Diseases and co-director of the Joint Preservation and Arthritis Center.

Board Members-at-Large Elected
James A Browne, MD and Mark J. Spangehl, MD, were elected to serve as AAHKS Board Members-at-Large for 2018-2020. Dr. Brown currently serves on the Program Committee and practices in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dr. Spangehl is an Associate Editor for Arthroplasty Today and practices in Phoenix, Arizona. They will join the Board when it meets in New Orleans next March.
