AAHKS and AAOS Leaders Meet with CMS

Representatives from AAHKS and AAOS met with CMS staff this week to discuss the previously reported Medicare Learning Network (MLN) newsletter, that was released in order to help clarify how the removal of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) from the inpatient only list (IPO) affects providers and institutions. AAHKS and AAOS have been requesting this document and appreciate that CMS has released it. As a result of this meeting, we agreed to provide updates and revisions to CMS for their consideration so that it may be more helpful to our members in navigating the interplay of the Two-Midnight Rule with TKA’s removal from the IPO.
