AAHKS and AAOS Meet with CMS

Leaders from AAHKS and AAOS engaged with representatives of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) this week to address the designation of hip and knee arthroplasty codes as “potentially misvalued” in the 2019 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule, as previously reported. AAHKS leaders emphasized our active engagement with CMS on value-based payment reform, the success surgeons have achieved in reducing the overall cost of hip and knee replacement, and how undervaluing services may impact patient access.
