As Hurricane Florence bore down on the East Coast, former Health Policy Fellow and AAHKS Advocacy Committee member P. Maxwell Courtney, MD made the rounds on Capitol Hill Thursday. Accompanied by AAHKS lobbyists, the offices of 10 Senators from both sides of the aisle were visited. The focus of the meetings was on gaining support from Congress to push CMS to address continuing problems stemming from the removal of TKA from the Medicare “Inpatient only” list of procedures. AAHKS is conveying stories of the adverse impact on patients provided by members as well as data from an AAHKS survey documenting the widespread scope of the problems.
