AAHKS Represented at AMA RUC Meeting

AAHKS was represented by Adam A. Sassoon, MD, MS and Adolph J. “Chick” Yates Jr., MD, FAOA at last week’s AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) Meeting in Phoenix. AAHKS representatives attend all RUC meetings to monitor the issues, including those related to total joint arthroplasty. Dr. Sassoon and Dr. Yates were part of the team from AAHKS and AAOS that presented the findings of the RUC survey of the total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty survey codes last year. The RUC has made a recommendation to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in this confidential review period. CMS will make their proposed values public later this year in the CMS Calendar Year 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule.
