AAHKS, along with more than 100 specialty and state societies, signed on to an American Medical Association letter to House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal and Ranking Member Kevin P. Brady, expressing concern about “the impact that unanticipated medical bills are having on patient out-of-pocket costs and the patient-physician relationship.” The letter requests that Congress consider insurer accountability, transparency and limits on patient responsibility among other issues, when developing potential legislation.
