The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) will now include fracture and trauma data in its AAOS Registry Program. Announced on September 28, the new Fracture & Trauma Registry (FTR) will collect data from orthopaedic surgeons on five of the most common fracture types in the U.S. The new registry will be rolled out in select institutions later this year, with nationwide launch planned for spring 2021.

Like other AAOS Registry Programs, the FTR is “designed to utilize data for making critical clinical and resource-related decisions to improve quality of care for patients,” the Academy says. It is the fifth registry in the program, joining the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR), among others. AJRR is the official registry of AAHKS.

The FTR will have five modules collecting data including hip fracture and distal femur fracture. Orthopaedic surgeons who treat patients with fractures are encouraged to participate in the FTR by emailing the AAOS at RegistryEngagement@aaos.org or by visiting the AAOS website. Read the full press release.
