The AAHKS Patient and Public Relations Committee has published a new article, “Allergic or Sensitive to Metal?” on the AAHKS patient education website. The article explains testing for metal allergy and signs of sensitivity before and after surgery and addresses implant concerns. “While up to 14% of people will have some reaction to certain metal allergy tests, metal allergy is a very rare cause of failure in knee replacements,” the article advises. Please share this article and the library of articles and videos with your patients. www.hipknee.aahks.org.
