What Patients are Reading: Inequity in Bundled Care

Bundled care programs seek to address the ratio of outcomes to cost, but they do not take into consideration patients’ preexisting medical conditions and social factors according to the Forbes magazine article, “How Bundling Care Hurts The Patients Who Need It The Most.“ Author Prem N. Ramkumar, MD, MBA, an AAHKS member, questions the equity of such programs, “The present system of bundling patients as if each and every individual were the same is not only inaccurate but also promotes patient selection, presents ethical dilemmas and exacerbates health access issues specifically for patients who need care the most.” Full story.
